BATTLE OF THE BULGE RIDE
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2008

Saturday, November 22, 2008 dawned another clear, cold, sunny morning. In spite of the temperature, 95 excited riders arrived at The Great Escape, ready to brave the cold after getting energized on coffee, breakfast bars, cookies, brownies and fruit.

Riders returned to a meal of hot chili, with all the fixin’s, cornbread, tortilla chips and dessert. Several riders declared it the best chili they’d had in a long time and it appeared that a great time was had by all. Participants were asking about the “next” ride and seemed eager to participate in these “fall rides”.

SPARTANBURGS NOV.1 RIDE

Saturday Nov.1, dawned clear and cold but that didn't stop the dedicated cyclist from descending on The Great Escape Bicycle Shop in Spartanburg to go "Out Spooking' in the crisp autumn air. Last minute bike adjustments were made by our on hand mechanics as the riders enjoyed coffee, muffins, fruit and other goodies before heading out.

One highlight of the ride was when Ed (manager) and Teresa Vanover put in their appearance before the ride began. Ed had a chance to visit briefly with friends and acquaintances before everyone headed outside where Ed had the honor of waving off 105 cyclist who joined the ride. You should have seen the grin on Ed's face!

Our eager riders returned to The Great Escape for pizza, soft drinks and cake before heading home. Everyone declared it was a fun ride.

A special thank you to Paul Melote of Little Caesars Pizza! pizza! for making the pizza available to us thanks also to Dave Proctor in getting the ride organized and to the Great Escape staff who worked hard to make this an enjoyable day for all concerned.
