Now it's our turn!
After attending the city council meeting at which several representatives of our bicycling community, thanked the mayor and members of the council for all the work and efforts toward making Greenville a better town for cycling, I can only thing back to 1973 when we opened our doors and started selling bicycles. We have come a long way since then, but the old saying "you ain't seen nothing yet" will hold true for the next few years. Cycling is going to grow in Greenville but also Spartanburg and Anderson. Many people have been working hard on Greenways, marking roads for safer bike use, and connecting these various parts so one can get from one place to another without having to travel on a high density, unsafe (for cyclist) road.
Now it's time for all of us who cycle to encourage our non cycling friends to try our sport, especially the trails, and Greenways. We owe it to both our those who have worked so hard to bring these excellent changes to our Upstate, but to our friends. Explain the beauty of riding, the enjoyment of companionship, the body tone and weight loss ( I'm preaching to the choir, as I'm sure all of you know what you gain from riding your bicycle.)
Exercise, fun, green activities, families having quality time together away from the computer or tv, The Upstate will lead the rest of the state in all these areas. Life is good in the Upstate
